About the Artists
Gabriel Escuerdo
Born on November 20th 1982, Gabriel Escudero started playing the piano at the age of six and earned his Bachelor's degree in 2003 with highest qualifications. Mr. Escudero has been awarded many prizes from various competitions, including: 1st prize in the Young Artist Competition in Murcia and the Best National Instrumentalist (1996), 2nd prize in "The Ruperto Chapi" Piano Competition (1996), 1st prize in the "Ciutat de Manresa" piano competition (1997), 1st prize at the Composition Competition in Cartagena (1997), 1st prize at the "Marcha Arte Joven" Competition (1997), 1st prize at the "Infanta Cristina" Piano Competition (1998), Special Steinway & Sons prize (1998), and 1st prize at the "Ciutat de Xativa" Piano Competition (2001). As an award from the above competitions, he has had the chance to perform in many important auditoriums in Spain and abroad (Madrid, Manresa, Oviedo, Murcia, Hamburg and United States.)
Mr. Escudero has also premiered works by Mateo Soto, (Spanish young composer) for whom the works have been dedicated. Furthermore, he has recorded for RNE and TVE (National Spanish Radio and Television) solo works by Brahms, and works with orchestra by Chopin and Rachmaninov. He has been mentioned many times in regional and national newspapers (La Verdad, El Pais, ABC…) as one of the most talented young Spanish pianist.
Since 2006, Gabriel was a scholarship student at the Manhattan School of Music, earning his Master’s degree with pedagogue Arkady Aronov. He has also studied with renown artists like Carlos Apellaniz (Conservatory of Valencia), Ana Guijarro (Royal Superior Conservatory of Music in Madrid) and Eldar Nebolsin (international pianist and faculty member at the "Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia.") Since September 2008, Gabriel is a full scholarship student at the Mannes School of Music, earning his Professional Studies Diploma.
