About the Artists
Eric Huebner
Pianist Eric Huebner has drawn worldwide acclaim for his performances of new and traditional music since making his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at age 17. Recent performing highlights include solo appearances at the 2008 Ojai Festival, György Ligeti’s Piano Concerto and Olivier Messiaen’s Oiseaux Exotiques with David Robertson conducting, a concert of Stravinsky’s piano music produced by Miller Theater and solo recitals at Adelphi University in Long Island and Zipper Hall in Los Angeles.
Mr. Huebner appears frequently as guest pianist with the New York Philharmonic and has been featured in performances of Stravinsky’s Petroushka and Firebird suites in addition to symphonies by Ives and Martinu as well as in performances with their new music ensemble, Contact. He has appeared as soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Zankel Band, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Slee Sinfonietta, Riverside Symphony, Redlands Symphony and the Juilliard Orchestra.
Since 2001, Huebner has been a member of Antares, a quartet comprised of clarinet, violin, cello and piano. Antares was awarded first prize at the 2002 Concert Artists’ Guild International Competition and appears frequently at major venues throughout the United States.
In addition to a career as soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Huebner is an active freelancer in the New York City area. He has appeared with many of the city’s leading new music ensembles including Speculum Musicae, Zankel Band, Manhattan Sinfonietta, So Percussion, Continuum, New York New Music Ensemble, American Modern Ensemble, and ACME. Huebner is also a founding member of the saxophone, guitar, piano and percussion quartet, Flexible Music.
Mr. Huebner has been heard on PBS and NPR, and on radio stations throughout the United States and Europe. His recordings are available on the Col Legno, Centaur, Bridge, Albany, Tzadik, Innova, New Focus Recordings and Mode labels. Mr. Huebner was recently appointed Visiting Assistant Professor of Piano at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He holds a B.M. and M.M. from The Juilliard School where he studied with Jerome Lowenthal.
