The Keys SPOTLIGHT series, a new feature for the 2007-8 season, will present individual concerts, each focusing on a particular aspect of contemporary piano music, whether it is a single composer, region, or style. As opposed to the broad-based eclecticism of the Festival proper, this series will enable us to explore specific areas in depth and detail.
On Thursday February 28, 2008, we are proud to present the masterful and engaging Lisa Moore as the inaugural soloist of this ongoing series. In honor of world-renowned composer-pianist Frederic Rzewski’s 70th birthday, Lisa will present an entire concert of his works, culminating in the theatrical tour de force De Profundis (1992), which includes a text by Oscar Wilde.
For decades now, Frederic Rzewski has contributed his own special brand of theatricality, boldness, and intellectual energy to the world of contemporary piano music, and we are proud to honor this unique composer.
